The artisans behind the KERF brand have been joining sustainable materials with advanced technology for over 10 years in Pittsburgh, PA. The brand is dedicated to improving experiences through craftsmanship and improving the environment through better practices. Over 90% of their materials are sourced within 100 miles of their workshop. One of their partnerships is with Urban Tree, an organization in Pittsburgh that rescues urban "felled trees" that would otherwise be turned into mulch or discarded. In woodworking, Kerf is the thickness of material removed from a saw blade, usually measured in 1/1000 of an inch increments. Making familiar accessories from unconventional materials requires a level of extreme precision, so they chose "Kerf" to represent their brand because it’s everything they are: precise, finicky, and obsessed with perfection.
