Breakfast in the Strip Tea
Breakfast in the Strip Tea
Just like a breakfast in Pittsburgh’s storied Strip District—this tea is a perfect way to start your day. A unique, hand-blended breakfast tea, De Fer strove for complex layers of flavor backed by the strong, dark, malty and slightly-astringent character that breakfast teas are loved for.
Unlike most breakfast teas which use cheaper, finely ground low-quality tea to achieve that body and boldness, De Fer blends three full-leaf single origin teas from the Champawat and Deamoolie Estates in India, and the Satemwa Tea Estate in Malawi.
Satemwa is a family owned tea estate that has been in business for over 100 years and has long been working to change the paradigm by making sure its workers and families have access to good healthcare, schools and other social programs. Champawat is an estate located in the foothills of the Himalayas, about 200 miles from the border of Nepal. This region is known as Kumaon. The region employs more than 200 Kumaon families, producing more than 120,000 lbs of tea annually. Kumaon tea farmers earn 5-10 times the average rates of Indian tea farmers.
About 20 cups per bag.
